I’ve been hard at work in the Revived Radios workshop producing some craftily, customised, christmas-coloured (ok that’s enough alliteration) Roberts Radios. One in a gorgeous red and green, genuine Harris Tweed from the Shawbost mill on the Isle of Harris and one in rare sweetheart rose oilcloth from Cath Kidston. Both radios are fully refurbished and guaranteed and come in a Revived Radios gift box. They make a unique christmas gift. Even the person who has everything won’t have one of these!

We have recently refurbished two original analogue Roberts Revival radios. Roberts were inspired to create this model by the demand created when a vintage Roberts radio was featured in an 80s Martini advert. These were some of the last Roberts Radios to bear the ‘Made in England’ label and were upholstered in much more durable coverings than the later Roberts Revivals. One is in a ravishing, red Rexine cover and one in beautiful blue, genuine leather. After a full check up (with any dodgy parts replaced) and a good clean and polish they are looking as good as when they left the Roberts’ Factory in East Mosley. We’ve been working hard at Revived Radios customising Roberts Radios in beautiful Harris Tweed, sourced direct from the Outer Hebrides at Harris Tweed Direct. They are finished to an exceptional standard and we think they make fantastic gifts. All are fully tested, guaranteed and carefully packed in a Revived Radios gift box. We spent our summer holidays on the beautiful Isle of Mull off the western coast of Scotland. Whilst there we visited the Ardalanish Weavers www.ardalanish.com which can be found just behind the fabulous Ardalanish beach. Situated on a farm they weave gorgeous tweeds using the wool from their own Hebridean sheep. We were particularly taken with this tweed called Mull Granite which closely echoes the colours of the pink granite outcrops of the Ross of Mull. We couldn’t resist bringing some back to re-cover this Roberts Radio – available shortly at www.revivedradios.com
Last century Roberts Radios produced several special edition, genuine leather Roberts Revival radios including the, now sought after, Mulberry leather edition and a radio specially branded for the Jaguar company. However, since the advent of the DAB Roberts Revival no real leather versions have been produced. A pity, we think, as a quality leather finish improves with age – unlike the finish of the current revival! At Revived Radios we were commissioned to produce a couple of custom leather models and can now present a fine, kid leather upholstered Roberts RD60 Radio for you to buy at: www.revivedradios.com
